Abstract
Benzocaine, Lidocaine, Tetracaine (BLT) cream is a potent, prescription-only compounded topical anaesthetic used to numb skin before dermatologic procedures like laser resurfacing, fillers, and microneedling. It combines three agents for rapid-acting (Benzocaine) and deep, prolonged (Lidocaine/Tetracaine) numbness. It is typically applied to intact skin. The composition of the cream included the BLT, and non-active components. HPLC/MS is used for qualitative and quantitative analysis and thoroughly validated for specificity, linearity, limit of detection, accuracy, precision, and recovery. Detailed experimental data are presented to assist chemists in analyzing BLT in creams using HPLC.
